Artist Michael Yurick in front of his artwork
Michael’s mixed media collage works are based on capturing photographic images within a fleeting moment of time. When the sun is not too high and positioned at a desired angle a figure is posed. At that moment the elongated and distorted shadow cast is captured. The collage is then constructed as a study of the individual or object giving each completed work a personality of its own. In time, these mixed media works evolved into the combined use of other found elements such as paint, metallic color, corrugated cardboard, museum board and paper. The raised construction, combined with relief, gives an added dimension of the movement of light and shadow.

Engaging, Modern, Sophisticated, Evolving
What inspires your art?
The movement of shadow & light.
How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?
My experience at the Clio Art Fair exceeded my expectations. I found a well-organized staff dedicated to independent artists. They were always very prompt and accommodating with all of my questions and concerns. The reception was well attended, lively and great fun. The 3-day show was fantastic. I met other artists from around the world. We collaborated, shared, advised, and encouraged each other and had a good time showing and selling. The Clio staff made sure, in the most creative way, how to market the show and bring in potential buyers in a gallery space and neighborhood in New York City know as a destination for art. The Clio Art Fair was all together a wonderful experience, and I recommend it for all independent artists.
