Clio Art Fair Spotlight: A review by Adrianne Hawthorne Thomas (Ponnopozz)

Artist Adrianne Hawthorne Thomas (Ponnopozz) with her artwork
Ponnopozz is the art and studio of Adrianne Hawthorne Thomas.
Adrianne uses vivid colors in unexpected combinations to create wild, colorful acrylic and gouache paintings, along with residential and commercial murals. Color has always been her main source of inspiration.
Adrianne comes from a graphic design background but prefers the act of making art with her own hands. She initially felt uneasy putting so much of herself out into the world, but has since felt a satisfaction that she never found in corporate America. Ponnopozz is named after two imaginary friends, Ponno and Pozzer, that the artist had as a child. The name is a daily reminder of the unbridled creativity of childhood that she continues to nurture through the act of painting and drawing.
Adrianne is currently based in Chicago where she owns and operates Ponnopozz. She lives with her husband Seth, and their four cats.
Adrianne Hawthorne Thomas exhibited her work in the past at the 22nd edition of Clio Art Fair, held from May 7-10, 2026. Here is a short interview with the artist and a review of her experience at the fair.
Adrianne, can you please describe your art in four words?
Colorful, happy, abstract, unexpected.
What inspires your art?
Color palettes, whether intentional (ie: a hotel room designed by an interior design firm) or unintentional (ie: a patch of flowers)
How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?
I enjoyed meeting collectors and gallery owners -- everyone was so easy to talk to and positive! I also loved how intimate the Fair was because it allowed me to get to know the other artists without feeling overwhelmed.
