Artist Hazal Ozturk immersed in her creative process

"My practice is abstract painting, acrylic on canvas and paper. For the past several years my work has explored emotional states through color, movement, and texture, drawing on the natural world not as literal subject but as rhythm: what it feels like to exist inside a landscape rather than observe it.

The work I'm bringing to Clio belongs to a new series: Female Interiority. It is an attempt to make visible the full, unedited inner life of a woman: desires, fears, passions, contradictions, silence. Work that is transparent rather than composed. This series began as I returned to my practice after the birth of my first child, and it carries that weight: the clarity that comes from being forced to choose what matters.

I paint without a fixed endpoint. Color arrives before language does. What I'm after is not a resolved image but an honest one, something that holds both the feeling and its opposite without resolving them into something easier to look at."

Hazal exhibited her work in the past at the 25th edition of Clio Art Fair, held from September 24-27, 2026. Here is a short interview with the artist and a review of her experience at the fair.

Ruth, can you please describe your art in four words?

Emotion. Color. Movement. Interiority.

What inspires your art?

The emotional texture of being alive in the world: what a day, a place, or a feeling does to me before I have words for it.

How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?

Clio was one of the most genuinely connective art experiences I've had. I met people who think about art the way I do, which is rare. Alessandro and the team made everything feel supported and easy, from setup to the conversations they facilitated. I left wanting to come back.
