Clio Art Fair Spotlight: a Review by Denise Jones Adler

“My work is both personal and archetypical and seeks to memorialize a moment in time, the fragile nature of life and the emotional impact of the past on the present. My portraits and dreamscapes pinpoint my unsettled view of the world, balanced a bit by a subtle sense of humor and innate feminism. I am influenced by the Feminist Art movement, surrealism, expressionism and the Dada movement."

Denise Jones Adler showcased her work in the past at the 18th and 19th editions of Clio Art Fair, held from May 1–4 & May 8-11, 2025. Here is our short interview with the artist and a review of her experience at Clio Art Fair!

Denise, can you please describe your art in four words?

Magical, spiritual, fantastical, unique.

What inspires your art?

I’m inspired by my dreams. And thoughts- what occurs subconsciously when we take brush or pencil in hand. I have always loved mythology and Grimm’s fairy tales which were an early source for symbolic themes and images. Magical realism is another rich source.

How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?

I love the community that occurs when artists gather together and this was so good. I was in a terrific spot and had wonderful interactions with the people who attended the fair. It was again a very rewarding experience.
