"My practice is a layering and assembly of images, objects, text, graphics, histories and time. Utilizing the process of image transfer on Café Bustelo coffee packaging, a well-known and celebrated coffee brand in the Bronx, I create collages, paintings and installations that incorporate images of myself, my family, nature and patterns inspired by domestic patterns found in my grandparents’ home. My work is deeply rooted in the ideology that our histories hold both value and power. I am interested in the innate way familial and communal histories are connected to larger ancestral legacies. My work is deeply rooted in the ideology that our histories hold both value and power. I am interested in the innate way familial and communal histories are connected to larger ancestral legacies. By honoring and giving representation to these histories, I also hope to honor my ancestors whose own histories were lost and left discarded due to genocide, colonization and forced migration."

Katherine Miranda exhibited her work in the past at the 21st edition of Clio Art Fair as a special guest, held from September 18-21, 2025. Here is a short interview with the artist and a review of her experience at Clio Art Fair.

Katherine, can you please describe your art in four words?

Mixed-media mythological archive.

What inspires your art?

My inspiration consistently comes from family memories, photos and traditions. I am also often inspired by music especially by my grandfather's extensive record collection.

How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?

Clio Art Fair brought together a variety of different artists providing a wide-array of works, mediums and subject matter that made for an interesting fair to participate in. As someone who did an installation I did find it a bit difficult to put my works up without access to some of the more basic install supplies needed for putting up works. I did enjoy the freedom Clio Art Fair gave me in displaying my works in the arrangement I saw best. I also enjoyed being exposed to such a wide array of visitors and artists.
