Artist Torsten Trantow in his studio with his artwork
"My artistic work exists within the realm of abstraction. I work with various materials, contrasting colors, textures, and surfaces, experimenting with them and exploring how they interact and harmonize. I work with these qualities, allowing the piece to develop organically. Feelings, thoughts, and emotions flow into my work. Before each canvas, I dare to integrate new ideas, to transcend the rules of perspective in order to explore new areas of abstraction. Born on May 29, 1975, and raised in a small town in southern Germany, I gradually discovered the urban energy and diversity of large cities. These impressions, among other things, inform my art. I am particularly inspired by architecture, facades, and walls with their graffiti—the traces of time that are evident within them. These impressions have shaped me and are reflected in all their diversity in my work. Thus, the themes of hope and transience resonate with me in my current work.
After completing my training as a state-certified graphic designer, I have worked for 20 years as a freelance illustrator for book publishers and daily newspapers in Europe. My passion for art has been with me since my youth, and in recent years I have discovered my love for abstract painting. In my abstract works, I depict a journey that not only reflects my own artistic development but also invites the viewer to discover and experience their own path through my works. This allows each viewer to decide for themselves how deeply they wish to absorb the colors, forms, and content."

Perceiving traces in colorfields.
What inspires your art?
I love looking at interesting artists. The works of painter Nicolas de Staël are a wonderful source of inspiration. Good music and hiking in nature give my mind enormous creative energy.
How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?
The fall exhibition at the Clio art fair was a very exciting experience for me. As an artist from Germany, it was a great honor to be able to show my paintings in the magical city of New York. The Clio team also provided excellent support, ensuring my works were delivered on time for the opening. It was a very interesting experience to exhibit alongside other great artists at the Clio art fair and to discover more wonderful paintings and artists.
