Another Brick in the Wall

In a world increasingly shaped by screens and digital interactions, we are witnessing a profound shift — from physical spaces of communal gathering to fragmented, algorithm-driven realities online. The public square, once the beating heart of collective discourse, is now replaced by curated feeds, comment sections, and endless scrolls. The “walls” of today are not just physical; they are cognitive, emotional, and ideological — reinforced by invisible architectures of code, data, and capital.

In this shifting landscape, the artist is not a passive observer but an active constructor of new realities. As Oscar Wilde once wrote: “Art is individualism, and individualism is a disturbing and disintegrating force … it seeks to disturb monotony of type, slavery of custom, tyranny of habit, and the reduction of man to the level of a machine.”

"Another Brick in the Wall" explores this pivotal moment of transformation. What does it mean for connection, for dissent, for the human impulse to create meaning together? And crucially — what is the artist’s role in this new dimension? Are artists building bridges or fortifying walls? Are they disruptors of the algorithmic order, or merely content within it?

This program invites artists to interrogate these new boundaries and architectures.​
