Great Indian Actors to know and to be known

In a globalized period, a list of five well known Indian and two raising stars in in the art system.


Sir Ben Kingsley was born as Krishna Pandit Bhanji on 31 December 1943 in Snainton, North Riding of Yorkshire, and is an English actor. During his fifty-year career, he has garnered numerous awards and nominations, including a Grammy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA Award, and an Academy Award from four nominations.

Kingsley was appointed Knight Bachelor in 2002 for services to the British film industry, and in 2010, he was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2013, he received the Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment.


Freida Selena Pinto (born October 18th 1984) is an Indian actress who has appeared mainly in American and British films. She has been nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Performance, and Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress – Drama, and she won the Palm Springs International Film Festival Award for Breakthrough Performance for Slumdog Millionaire.

Although Indian media has credited Pinto with breaking the stereotypical image of an Indian woman in foreign films, she has been a lesser-known figure in Indian cinema and has rarely been featured in prominent productions in India.


Om Prakash Puri, OBE (October 18th 1950 – January 6th 2017) was an Indian actor who appeared in mainstream commercial Hindi films, as well as independent and art films, but he also appeared in non-Indian productions in the United States and Britain.

Puri was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 1990. In 2004, he was made an honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

He became known internationally by starring in many British films such as My Son the Fanatic (1997), East Is East (1999), and The Parole Officer (2001). Several of his completed films were released after his death, including Viceroy's House and Tubelight.


Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (born November 1st 1973) is an Indian actress and the winner of the Miss World 1994 pageant. Through her successful acting career, she has established herself as one of the most popular and influential celebrities in India.

Her off-screen roles include duties as a brand ambassador for several charity organizations and campaigns. She is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS). In 2003, she was the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. In addition, Rai is the brand ambassador for The Eye Bank Association of India's nationwide campaign to promote eye donation in India.


Kabir Bedi (born January 16th 1946) is an Indian film actor. Bedi was one of three children born into a Sikh family that had devoted itself to India's fight for independence from British colonial rule. His career has spanned three continents covering India, the United States, and especially Italy—among other European countries—in three media: film, television, and theatre.

Since 1982, Kabir Bedi has been a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—who are responsible for presenting the Oscar awards, and he is a voting member of the Screen Actors Guild.


Swarnima Singh was born in Delhi but after starting acting at a young age in school plays and theatre, she is now a permanent fixture in the NYC acting scene.

Creative expression is a big part of her life, so as she was pursuing music and performing at shows across India while attending college at the same time, she decided to become a professional actress. She worked on several projects, both Indian and America. Lately, she worked on a music video by Prettyboyshav, which has been featured on a few recognized music blogs. In New York, she has worked with director Mike Keller and performed in pieces by John Cariani.


Zoya Hussain (born October 1st, 1990) is an actress, writer, and director within the India Film Industry. Zoya Hussain is also called Zoya Khan, though she was born as Sana Khan. During her studies in Delhi, she participated in basketball and badminton at the state level, and she also started taking part in beauty pageants. In the year 2011, she was crowned queen of the Miss Beautiful Skin in Delhi Beauty Pageant. After that, Zoya moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in modeling.


Her debut in Bollywood was with the 2017 Indian sports drama film co-written, co-produced, and directed by Anurag Kashyap. She also happens to be the niece of the former Delhi Cabinet Minister, Mr. Haroon Yusuf.
